Aaron K. Block

Aaron is a senior associate in the Firm’s Products Liability group. He represents industry in scientifically-complex matters, typically involving toxic tort, product liability, and consumer fraud allegations. Aaron specializes in working with (and against) experts to communicate the client’s scientific case to a non-technical audience—courts, regulators, and the public. A related aspect of Aaron’s practice involves advertising substantiation.

Representative industries include telecommunications, food and beverage, natural gas/hydraulic fracturing, minerals, and consumer electronics.

Aaron maintains an active pro bono practice on behalf of immigrants seeking refuge from terrorism and torture overseas. He litigated a high-profile asylum matter from the immigration courts, through the Eleventh Circuit, to the certiorari stage at the Supreme Court. His petition was designated a Petition to Watch by SCOTUSblog, and the Solicitor General agreed the issue was worthy of certiorari, but the Court ultimately declined review after considering the petition at several conferences.

Prior to joining Alston & Bird, Aaron was a law clerk for Judge Jon P. McCalla, Chief District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Aaron received his J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Washington University School of Law. During law school, Aaron was on the executive board of the Washington University Law Review and served as student body president.
