Adam W. Wiers

Adam Wiers is a commercial litigator with substantial experience representing clients in trial courts, appellate courts, and arbitrations.

Currently, Adam represents R.J. Reynolds in a massive nationwide arbitration regarding contract disputes arising under the groundbreaking Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement. As part of this effort, he has acted as trial counsel in two recent arbitration trials before a panel of three retired federal judges. He will try additional such cases this coming year.

Very recently, Adam acted as lead trial lawyer representing a religious school in a multi-week trial involving various constiutional and religious discrimination claims related to zoning decisions made by a suburban city.

Adam also recently represented a major international manufacturing company as a plaintiff in a multimillion dollar breach of contract and fraud action in federal court, prevailing on a motion for summary judgment as to breach of contract liability and successfully dismissing several counterclaims via summary judgment.

Adam also has enjoyed successes on appeal, including defending a grant of summary judgment in the federal First Circuit, defending a denial of class certification in the Seventh Circuit, and twice defending rulings in Illinois' Second District Appellate Court in Stahelin v. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, 877 N.E.2d 1121 (Ill. App. Ct. 2007) and 930 N.E.2d 447 (Ill. App. Ct. 2010).

Adam also dedicates significant time to pro bono work, including representing victims of atrocities in asylum petitions. One of his asylum victories was featured on the front page of the Chicago Sun-Times and on CBS's "Nightly News."
