Alex N. Pyke

Alex Pyke represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. He counsels employers on a wide range of labor and employment issues, including executive employment contracts and company policies, leave, and benefits in the United States and the Middle East; workforce classification and restructuring; management decisions regarding hiring; discipline and termination of employees; separation and release agreements; whistleblower claims; and compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations. Additionally, Alex frequently represents clients in connection with labor and employment issues arising in mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions.

Alex's litigation experience includes single plaintiff and class action disputes before federal, state, and administrative courts as well as arbitration. He defends employers in wage and hour, whistleblower, traditional labor, employment discrimination, breach of contract, and tort cases. Alex also counsels employers and litigates matters related to covenants not to compete and the protection of trade secrets and other confidential information.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Alex was a law clerk for the Honorable Andrew S. Hanen in the Southern District of Texas, where he was involved with commercial, eminent domain, employment, and civil rights cases. Before attending law school, he taught public school in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas as a Teach for America corps member. Alex is actively involved in local education, including developing legal education programs for several Houston area public schools.
