Alexander Cohen’s practice focuses on litigation and regulatory matters involving the health care industry, with an emphasis on Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse investigations. He counsels health care providers, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, clinical laboratories and group purchasing organizations on compliance with governing federal and state laws, including those relating to anti-kickback, false claims, privacy and physician self-referral issues, as well as compliance with marketing and gift disclosure requirements. Mr. Cohen has experience negotiating civil settlement agreements with the Department of Justice and state Medicaid Fraud Control Units, and corporate integrity agreements with HHS OIG.

Mr. Cohen also advises health care industry participants on the regulatory aspects of planned or potential changes of ownership and other transactions. He routinely advises clients on issues implicating state licensure, federal health care program enrollment and the corporate practice of medicine.
