Allan W. Watts

Allan Watts is a registered patent attorney with over ten years of experience as an engineer and over 12 years of additional experience as a patent attorney. Mr. Watts’ practice includes counseling clients in the development and management of patent portfolios, preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, advising clients when their patents are infringed by others, counseling clients in the management of their liability for infringement of others’ patents, and preparing and negotiating intellectual property and software licensing and assignment agreements.
Mr. Watts is a mechanical engineer and has experience in a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems including automotive and aerospace components and systems; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment; power generation systems including renewable energy, such as hydropower, wind energy, and solar power; tools; software; e-commerce; Internet systems; business methods; mobile phones; control systems; computer peripherals and electronic devices including surge protectors and USB hubs; sporting goods including rock-climbing equipment, skateboard like products, scooters, and personal protective equipment; medical devices including intravascular devices; civil structures including earthquake resistant steel beam connections; hydraulics; pneumatic systems; pumps; turbines; utilities; and energy management systems and equipment.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Watts was an engineer with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation where he was chief of the Power Generation Branch in the Phoenix Area Office. In that capacity, he supervised engineers and technicians responsible for mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the Central Arizona Project and Waddell, Roosevelt, Horseshoe, Bartlett, and Coolidge Dams, including various hydroelectric power plants, pumping plants, and water and power distribution equipment and facilities. Mr. Watts is a Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona, with proficiency in mechanical engineering, and has served as chairman of the Arizona/Nevada section of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
