Allison D. Charney

Allison represents clients in a variety of regulatory, criminal and compliance matters, as well as in commercial disputes in federal and state court.

She represents leading financial services firms, Fortune 500 companies and accounting firms in investigations conducted by the DOJ, FBI, SEC, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, New York State Attorney General and other state and local agencies. As a member of the firm’s higher education group, Allison advises universities and colleges on an array of regulatory and compliance matters. Allison also manages numerous internal investigations for clients.

Allison litigates commercial disputes in state and federal court, and is experienced in drafting and arguing dispositive motions as well as appellate work. She also advises clients on the preservation, collection and production of electronic documents and she manages large e-discovery projects.

Allison has represented individuals seeking asylum in the United States. She was awarded the McGuireWoods Pro Bono Award for her excellence in pro bono work.

She served as a summer law clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, Office of International Affairs, as well as a research assistant for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. While attending Emory University School of Law, Allison was president of the Student Bar Association and received the Dean’s Public Service Award and the Gary Katz Award for Public Service. While earning her undergraduate degree, she was selected for the Joseph M. Linsey Endowment Fellowship.

Allison is the chair of the McGuireWoods New York Women Lawyers Network.
