Amy Hargreaves is an associate in the San Diego office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the Litigation Department. Her practice focuses primarily on healthcare fraud defense and compliance-related matters for clients within the healthcare industry. Ms. Hargreaves has advised clients on a wide range of compliance issues, from the proper structuring of physician agreements to the development of pharmaceutical promotion practices. She has particular experience conducting internal investigations and pre-litigation factual development for hospital systems and other clients.

Ms. Hargreaves spends the majority of her time assisting clients in defending against False Claims Act qui tam actions, which are increasingly used as vehicles for enforcement of the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, as well as various similar state statutes.

Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Hargreaves volunteered full-time in the Civil Litigation unit of the City Attorney’s office for the City of San Diego. During her time at the City, she assisted in the defense of claims against the City arising from employment disputes, contractual disputes and personal injuries.

Ms. Hargreaves is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association (Law and Medicine practice group), the California State Bar Association, American Bar Association, USC Alumni Association and is active in the UCSD Alumni Association’s San Diego Chapter.
