Amy Hsiao

Amy Hsiao focuses her practice on trademark strategies, management, and enforcement issues related to Asia, with a particular focus on Greater China. She also represents Asia-based clients with IP-related business interests or commercial disputes in western countries.

Ms. Hsiao has extensive experience in a wide range of trademark matters, including large international trademark portfolios; brand creation involving English and Chinese characters, and trademark clearance for both languages; prosecution and portfolio management; and complex issues involving IP strategies, multi-million dollar advertising campaigns, and high-stakes litigations. She has served as lead counsel on numerous high-profile global trademark portfolios. Ms. Hsiao has been on several secondments in Shanghai for a major international brand, providing training for its employees and updating the management team on strategies in Asia.

Ms. Hsiao frequently travels to Asia to speak on topics relating to the strategic protection and commercialization of intellectual property. She regularly presents in the United States, providing updates and insights on Chinese law. In 2014, Ms. Hsiao was among a small group of western lawyers invited to exchange views in China regarding its reform of trademark laws. She has since been invited annually to speak on intellectual property topics at the prestigious China Trademark Festival.

Prior to joining Finnegan, Ms. Hsiao worked in New York, Atlanta, and Shanghai for a major law firm with one of the world's largest trademark practices.
