Andrew E. Lippmann

Andrew E. Lippmann is a partner in the firm's real estate department who concentrates his real estate practice in the acquisition and disposition of individual and multiple property portfolios and all aspects of the development and construction of commercial real estate, the leasing of retail, office and industrial properties, and the financing of large and medium-scale commercial and residential projects on behalf of both lenders and borrowers. Mr. Lippmann represents lending institutions and private equity firms, and numerous national and local real estate companies in all phases of the development, leasing and financing of retail shopping centers, residential condominium and rental buildings, office buildings, sport arenas and facilities and mixed-use properties. He also counsels a wide variety of businesses, including Fortune 500 companies and leading securities firms, on the ownership and disposition of their real estate holdings.

His experience in real estate development spans over twenty-five years and includes: representing owners in the strategic planning and ground-up development of shopping centers; ground lease transactions with the country’s largest retailers and department stores; and counseling owners of office properties in New York City and other major metropolitan areas in the construction, financing and leasing phases of property development.

Mr. Lippmann also has particular expertise in representing clients in the hospitality and restaurant industries, both nationally and internationally. Clients in this sector of real estate have solicited his counsel in a variety of business enterprises with respect to acquiring and operating restaurants in hotels, shopping centers and free-standing locations. He is currently representing a joint venture comprised of one of the largest hotel companies in the world and a world renowned restaurateur in the roll-out of new restaurant concepts, both in the United States and internationally. Given his experience in also representing owners in leasing to the restaurant industry, he has a thorough understanding of the requirements of both parties in these transactions, thus facilitating the negotiation process and enhancing his ability to expedite the closing of the deal.

Mr. Lippmann's lending clients are involved in mezzanine and subordinate loans, asset-based loans and other opportunistic lending, single and multi-property financings, and construction loans. Given the state of the current real estate markets, he also represents lenders and borrowers in loan workout and forbearance proceedings.

He is frequently involved in major lease transactions both in New York City and in other areas of the United States, including significant office leasing assignments and the representation of national retailers in the leasing of their flagship stores.

Mr. Lippmann also counsels hospitals and other health care institutions in the acquisition, ownership and disposition of their real estate portfolios, and he is currently serving as lead counsel to a major New York City hospital in connection with the expansion of its infrastructure and the addition of significant outpatient and ambulatory care facilities. Additional clients include owners of warehouse and industrial properties, condominium conversion specialists and construction companies.

Mr. Lippmann is called upon by executives of the companies he counsels and numerous other high net worth individuals, including hedge fund owners, prominent celebrities and entertainers, to provide advice and representation for the purchase and sale of estates, condominium and cooperative apartments, and premier residential properties around the world. His breadth of experience in commercial real estate transactions affords his residential clients a sophisticated understanding and a quick resolution of the potential problems in these transactions.
