Andrew R. Laidlaw

Mr. Laidlaw is a partner whose practice concentrates on litigation in the areas of antitrust, corporate and securities law, and general commercial litigation.

Mr. Laidlaw’s experience in securities litigation includes representation of companies and individual officers and directors in SEC investigations, class actions and derivative actions under Federal and State Securities Acts. He is one of the few attorneys who have successfully tried a securities class action to verdict before a jury. His litigation experience in this arena also includes representation of officers and directors in shareholder disputes alleging breach of fiduciary duty under state and common law.

In the area of antitrust litigation, Mr. Laidlaw has represented clients in monopolization claims, and claims involving pricing and structural issues under both the Sherman and Clayton Acts. Mr. Laidlaw also regularly counsels clients in all aspects of antitrust law and practice.

Mr. Laidlaw’s general commercial representation includes various errors and omissions claims, business torts including theft of trade secrets, covenants not to compete, interference with business relationships, business fraud, contracts and civil RICO matters. His litigation experience has included representation of both plaintiffs and defendants.

Mr. Laidlaw is a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and has practiced before multiple Federal District Courts, Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Laidlaw lectures frequently to a number of professional and trade associations, primarily in the areas of antitrust and litigation matters. In 1999 he was elected by his peers to “The Best Lawyers in America” in a survey published by Woodward, White.
