Angela L. Dunning is Special Counsel in the Cooley Litigation department. She joined the Firm in 2000 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.
Ms. Dunning's practice involves a variety of civil litigation matters in state and federal court, including complex contract and commercial disputes, securities litigation, deal cases, white-collar criminal defense, and trademark, copyright, trade secrets and unfair competition cases. She has tried numerous cases to a jury verdict and has substantial experience in the federal appellate courts.
In 2008, as part of a firm-sponsored program, Ms. Dunning served as an Assistant District Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco, prosecuting criminal cases such as theft, battery, weapons-related charges, and driving under the influence.
Ms. Dunning earned a J.D. in 2000 from the University of California, Davis School of Law. While at UC Davis, Ms. Dunning received the American Jurisprudence award for Legal Writing and served as an extern for the Honorable Gregory G. Hollows, Chief Magistrate Judge, United States District Court, Eastern District of California. Ms. Dunning is a member of the Order of the Coif. Ms. Dunning graduated, cum laude, in 1997 from the University of California, San Diego, with a B.A. degree in Literature/Writing.
