Arnold Kideckel

Arnold Kideckel is a key resource to clients in the insurance regulatory arena, offering a unique perspective and exceptional experience with regard to worker’s compensation, financially troubled insurance companies, and insurance disciplinary matters.

In his current practice, Arnold represents insurance companies before the New York State Department of Financial Services (previously the New York State Insurance Department) in connection with a variety of matters. These include disputes with financially troubled companies that may be placed or have been ordered into receivership; claims by guarantee funds; challenges to the collection of reinsurance funds and premiums; and disciplinary complaints against agents, brokers and claims adjusters. He also represents insurance companies, group self insurers, and their members and insureds against the New York State Worker’s Compensation Board.

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Arnold served for eight years as executive director (CEO) of the New York State Insurance Fund, the largest worker’s compensation insurance company in New York. During this time, he also served on the governing committee of the New York State Compensation Insurance Rating Board and was president of the American Association for the State Compensation Insurance Funds (the National Association of State Funds).

Arnold began his career as an assistant district attorney in Bronx County, NY, and rose to the position of deputy chief of the Appeals Bureau. He then became a law secretary to a state supreme court justice and ultimately was appointed by Governor Hugh Carey to serve as special deputy of insurance in charge of the Liquidation Bureau for the New York State Insurance Department.
