Bill Belitsky

Bill Belitsky is a senior associate in the Corporate practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s New York office. He concentrates his practice in the area of the Investment Company Act of 1940 and related securities and corporate laws.

Mr. Belitsky has extensive experience in representing numerous sponsors of unit investment trusts having all types of portfolios, including municipal and corporate bonds, equities, government securities, preferred stocks, real estate investment trusts, shares of other investment companies, and derivatives. His representation of unit investment trusts and their sponsors entails counseling on matters regarding their organization, frequent correspondence with the staff of the SEC, federal and state registration, primary and secondary market offerings, advertising, and continuing compliance obligations. Mr. Belitsky has also served as counsel to various mutual funds, money market funds, and exchange-traded funds.

In addition, Bill is active in the Firm’s pro bono and charitable efforts. He has advised numerous organizations on their formation and qualification as section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entities. Also, Bill has represented several Holocaust survivors who have been successful in receiving pension benefits for work done in Nazi ghettos.

Mr. Belitsky earned a B.A. in Economics from New York University in 2001 and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2006. During law school, he was the recipient of the “2006 John D. Feerick Award” for excellence in the field of alternative dispute resolution. He also was named “Regional ABA Negotiation Competition Champion” in 2004. Since 2009, Mr. Belitsky has served as an Adjunct Professor for the Alternative Dispute Resolution class at Fordham University School of Law.
