Brad R. Newberg

From the beginning of his legal career, Brad has focused on intellectual property litigation and counseling, with a special emphasis on copyrights, trademarks, domain names, trade secrets, dilution, and unfair competition.

As lead counsel on numerous cases, Brad has managed all aspects of litigation: motions, direct examinations and cross-examinations at trial, large-scale discovery projects, mediations, and depositions. He has represented clients before many different federal trial and appellate courts, the Copyright Royalty Board, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel.

With significant experience in the area of social media, Brad regularly speaks on the subject, and he has counseled clients on Internet-related legal matters and on ways they can use social media to interact with their target consumer groups. In addition, he has helped clients protect their brands and domain names by advising them on blocking systems, the Trademark Clearinghouse, Sunrise registrations and domain name enforcement. Brad also has handled various transactional and licensing matters.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Brad worked for other prominent law firms, including as partner, always broadening his experience in IP matters. He has also served as a judicial clerk to Judge Louis L. Stanton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
