Bradley M. Van Buren

Bradley M. Van Buren is a partner in Holland & Knight's Boston office and plays a key role in the firm's Private Investment Funds Team. He represents venture capital, private equity and hedge funds, with a focus on formation and operation of private investment partnerships from both a legal and tax perspective. Mr. Van Buren also represents institutional limited partner investors in reviewing and negotiating private investment fund terms.

Mr. Van Buren has extensive experience structuring fund entities to optimize tax planning opportunities and provide creditor protection for venture capital, private equity and hedge fund principals. He works closely with private investment fund principals to structure ownership of the carried interests in their funds to accomplish these objectives. Mr. Van Buren is often called upon by other advisors to develop strategies specific to their fund principals and has made several presentations to such groups and professional associations on the topic.

Mr. Van Buren also has experience structuring succession plans for hedge funds. He assists clients in managing the transition of a hedge fund from the founders to successor managers through the development and implementation of a well-articulated plan that gradually integrates the next generation of managers, incentives the aspiring managers and appeases investors.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Van Buren was a tax manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
