Bryan T. Shipp

Bryan Shipp advises banks, broker-dealers, FCMs, energy companies, hedge funds and industry associations in regulatory and compliance matters in the securities and derivatives markets. He has extensive experience counseling swap dealers as to compliance with SEC and CFTC rules under the Dodd-Frank Act and extensive knowledge of ISDA Dodd-Frank protocols. He has frequently advocated for clients in rulemaking proceedings at the CFTC and SEC. Bryan has also prepared securities and derivatives transaction documentation for clients, including ISDA Master Agreements, repurchase agreements, securities lending agreements, prime brokerage agreements, and bespoke swap documentation.

Bryan has aided clients with broker-dealer registration applications and bank corporate applications and chartering documents and has counseled bank holding companies with respect to bank regulatory requirements, including anti-money laundering rules, capital requirements, and permissible activities restrictions.

He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. He received his B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, cum laude, from the University of Arizona, and his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, where he was a Mussey-Gillette Fellow and served as Senior Articles Editor of the American University International Law Review.

Prior to law school, Bryan was a Fulbright Fellow in Russia, where he conducted research on the effects of early-modern (pre-Petrine) Muscovite property rights and taxation on the evolution of Russian serfdom. He was mentioned in the 2013 edition of IFLR1000.
