Carl Poedtke has a broad range of litigation experience in domestic and international insurance, reinsurance and insurer receivership matters, including state and federal court litigation, arbitration and mediation of disputes.

The disputes generally involve issues of coverage under sophisticated commercial excess and/or reinsurance contracts and programs. Carl also has been retained to provide coverage analyses in respect of catastrophe claims and losses occurring around the world.

In addition to handling litigation of insurance and reinsurance matters, Carl litigates commercial matters in state and federal courts, and has, among other things, litigated actions for: breach of contract, common law and consumer fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, class actions, unfair competition, tortious interference and misappropriation of trade secrets.

Carl also supports the practice group's global regulatory and transactional practice, representing clients during investigations on both a state and federal level, working directly with regulators in respect of unique client engagements, and devising strategies and documentation in complex insurance and reinsurance transactions.
