Catherine M. Basic is an associate and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP, where she assists clients in a variety of environmental and energy matters, including regulatory compliance counseling, the environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, civil and administrative litigation, agency enforcement settlement negotiations, and Superfund and Brownfield projects. In this capacity, she navigates federal and state environmental laws and regulations, such as CERCLA, RCRA, CAA, CWA, TSCA, EPCRA, and their state equivalents. Further, Ms. Basic has helped obtain the necessary regulatory approvals to build/modify coal and natural gas power plants and site 138 and 345 kV transmission lines. She is a member of the firm’s Environmental Regulation Practice and the Energy and Sports Industry Teams.
During law school, Ms. Basic served as a judicial extern to Magistrate Judge Sidney I. Schenkier of the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, was a summer associate with Foley (2010) and a legal assistant to the director of the Appellate Advocacy Program at the Bluhm Legal Clinic.
