Charlotte K. Murphy

Charlotte Murphy’s practice involves protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights, with a focus on global brand protection and the enforcement of trademark rights.

Charlotte handles all aspects of U.S. trademark clearance, prosecution, and maintenance, and she represents clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). Charlotte regularly counsels clients regarding global brand development and protection, including the use and enforcement of trademarks on the Internet and social media sites. She represents clients in cease and desist efforts against alleged infringers and assists clients with policing, enforcing, and defending trademark rights. She also works closely with domain name providers to proactively identify gaps in online brand protection and to maximize domain holdings while minimizing risks and costs.

Charlotte also represents clients in intellectual property litigation, with a focus on representing clients in trademark, unfair competition, and false advertising suits.

In addition, Charlotte maintains an active pro bono practice. She represents and advises nonprofit organizations on a variety of intellectual property matters, including trademark clearance and prosecution, copyright registration, protection and enforcement strategies, licensing, data privacy, and social media issues.

Prior to attending law school, Charlotte worked for a nonprofit group providing legal services to college students, and she was an intern with Atlanta Legal Aid as a second-year law student.
