Chase J. Brill

Chase Brill is an associate and intellectual property lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Brill counsels clients on intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, patent enforcement and licensing, defense of infringement allegations, due diligence investigations, product clearance, and litigation. He has significant experience with complex U.S. Patent Office procedures, including ex parte and inter partes reexamination, and inter partes review. He is a member of the firm’s Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies Practice and Patent Office Trials Group. He is also a member of the firm’s Automotive and Life Sciences Industry Teams.

Mr. Brill has substantial technical experience in the automotive field, having successfully obtained patent protection for inventions relating to fuel cells, engine components, vehicle control systems, automotive heating and air conditioning systems, and automotive lubricants and low-friction assemblies. Before attending law school, he worked as an applications and development engineer for an automotive supplier, where he designed and tested precision automotive components, and was a member of a USCAR team designing state-of-the-art lightweight engines. In addition, Mr. Brill has considerable technical experience in the fields of semiconductor devices (including organic and inorganic light emitting diode devices), nanotechnology (including nanolithography and nanoelectromechanical systems), medical devices, integrated circuit test handlers, and food and drink manufacturing.
