Christina Hioureas is a counsel in the firm's International Litigation & Arbitration practice. Christina represents States, private and State-owned entities, and individuals on international disputes and public international law matters. She also advises States on matters before the United Nations and its bodies.
Christina has particular experience on issues involving the Balkans, the Mediterranean, North Africa, Europe, the Caucuses, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. This includes: international investment treaty claims (ICSID, UNCITRAL); structuring investments to obtain treaty protection; international commercial arbitration (ICC, ICDR, Swiss Rules) and litigation; treaty drafting and interpretation; law of the sea; international human rights/Alien Tort Claim Act/Torture Victim Protection Act claims; and energy law and pricing disputes.
In addition to her private practice, Christina served as the Special Legal Adviser to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Nations, representing the State before the United Nations Sixth Committee to the General Assembly (Legal Affairs) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), as well as having addressed the General Assembly.
Christina has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law and Graduate Student Instructor at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Peace & Conflict Studies Department.
