Christopher Brian Durbin

Chris Durbin is a partner in the Commercial Litigation, Commercial Class Action Litigation, Securities Litigation, Privacy, and White Collar & Regulatory Defense practice groups and a member of the Cooley Litigation Department. He joined the firm in 2001 and is resident in the Firm's Seattle office.

Mr. Durbin's practice encompasses a range of litigation matters in federal and state courts, including consumer and privacy class actions, private securities litigation, white collar defense, and regulatory investigations, as well as pre-litigation counseling, including risk assessment, insurance matters, and informal dispute resolution.

Mr. Durbin also has extensive trial experience, including two federal white collar trials involving allegations of stock-option backdating—one of which, United States v. Roberts, resulted in the first acquittal of a stock-options backdating defendant—as well as a two-part trial in In re Pacific Gas & Electric Co., in which the bankruptcy court approved of PG&E's plan of reorganization in what was at the time the largest utility bankruptcy proceeding in U.S. history.

Mr. Durbin's practice also focuses on federal and state appellate litigation. He has prepared and argued a wide variety of notices, motions, petitions, writs, and briefs in various federal and state courts of appeal.
