Christopher JM Collings

Christopher J.M. Collings is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Collings is a trial attorney and represents clients before judges and juries throughout Florida. His practice and experience encompass a broad range of commercial and product related litigation in state and federal courts. Mr. Collings has counseled and defended clients in a variety of industries in product liability, toxic torts, and mass tort litigation as well as complex commercial litigation, and class actions, with an emphasis on property damage and consumer fraud actions.

In product related litigation, Mr. Collings has experience defending catastrophic personal injury lawsuits involving products ranging from naturally occurring minerals, such as asbestos and silica, to industrial machinery and automobiles, as well as class actions involving allegations of property damage, product mislabeling, and deceptive trade practices.

In business disputes, Mr. Collings has prosecuted and defended actions involving allegations of breach of contract, fraud, deceptive and unfair trade practices, and various business torts. He has litigated intellectual property disputes, including patent, copyright, and trademark infringement actions.

Mr. Collings’ practice also includes white collar enforcement and compliance matters regarding the importation and labeling of food products for sale in the United States.

From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Collings served as an assistant state attorney in the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, he tried a dozen cases to jury verdict and many more to verdict before judges. These trials resulted in convictions for some of the most serious criminal offenses. While at the State Attorney’s Office, Mr. Collings was selected to prosecute Florida’s most violent recidivist offenders as a member of its Career Criminal/Robbery Unit.

Mr. Collings serves as the chairman of the Board of Directors of Switchboard of Miami, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides free and confidential telephone counseling, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and information and referral services.

Mr. Collings earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1999 and his B.A. in political science from the College of the Holy Cross in 1995.

Mr. Collings is admitted to practice in Florida and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida.
