Christopher R. May

Christopher May is a Partner in Simpson Thacher’s Houston office, where he specializes in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions, with a particular focus on the energy sector. He regularly represents private equity firms and corporations in a variety of public and private acquisition and divestiture transactions.

Chris’s recent experience includes the representation of Crestwood Midstream Partners LP in its business combination transaction with Inergy Midstream Partners, L.P.; affiliates of First Reserve Corporation in connection with a number of energy–focused transactions, including the recent acquisitions of TNT Crane & Rigging, Dixie Electric and AFGlobal and the sale of Brand Energy; and affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. in connection with the acquisition of Prisma Capital Partners LP, a minority interest in Nephila Ltd. and an investment in the management business of Sunrise Senior Living Inc.

Chris also has extensive experience with public company transactions, both on the buy side and sell side. Other transactions on which Chris has worked include the representation of affiliates of The Blackstone Group in the acquisition of Hilton Worldwide Inc. and its subsequent restructuring and initial public offering; affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. in the acquisitions of HCA Inc. and First Data Corporation; Mars, Incorporated, in its acquisition of The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company; Wyeth in its sale to Pfizer Inc.; Sirius Satellite Radio in its merger of equals with XM Satellite Radio; Graham Packaging Company Inc. in connection with its acquisition by Reynolds Group Holdings Limited; and Kmart Holding Corp. in its merger with Sears, Roebuck and Co.

Chris received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 2002. He received his B.S. from Wake Forest University, summa cum laude, in 1999.
