Colleen T. Davies

Colleen is a member of the Life Sciences Health Industry Group, practicing in the area of product liability, life sciences and commercial litigation. She is Global Head of Legal Personnel. Colleen was previously Global Chair of Reed Smith's Litigation Department.

Colleen first joined Reed Smith in January 2003 when the firm combined with Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May. Her legal career has focused her civil litigation practice in the area of complex product liability and commercial defense work. Her litigation and trial experience include national counsel responsibility for cases at the state and federal trial court levels, including multi-district litigation and class actions.

Colleen's client base primarily consists of major pharmaceutical, medical device, software, hardware, electronic and consumer product manufacturers.

While Colleen's experience extends into various product manufacturing arenas, her specialty areas remain in pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer product liability defense. She also counsels product manufacturers on all phases of product development. Here, her work addresses manufacturing and marketing issues such as product warnings, design development, document retention policies, claims management, media relations and crisis management. She also has experience establishing in-house systems for compliance with Consumer Product Safety Commission reporting obligations.

Colleen is active in a number of legal defense organizations and is also a frequent lecturer and author on substantive issues relating to product liability defense.

Colleen's litigation practice has been recognized by Chamber’s USA and International Who’s Who of Product Liability. She has also been named as one of Lawdragon's 500 Leading Litigators. The Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal named her as among the Top Women Litigators and the California Law Business featured her as one of California's top women rainmakers. In 2010, the American Lawyer named Reed Smith as the Litigation Department of the Year for Product Liability. In 2011, Colleen accepted Inside Counsel’s Transformative Leadership Award for “Economic Empowerment Firm-Wide Policies.”
