Collin W. Park

Collin W. Park is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Park concentrates his practice on patent litigation, licensing, counseling, and portfolio management. He has represented patent owners or defendants in numerous patent lawsuits before various district courts throughout the country, including patent litigation hotbeds in the District of Delaware, the Eastern District of Texas, and the Northern and Central Districts of California. Mr. Park has also represented clients in section 337 proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission. In addition to participating in various stages of litigation from pre-suit investigation to trial, he has negotiated settlement of a number of lawsuits for clients.

Additionally, Mr. Park has represented licensors and licensees in numerous patent licensing negotiations, and has negotiated or drafted dozens of patent license agreements and settlement agreements involving patent licenses. He has also counseled clients ranging from small startups to global conglomerates on a wide variety of patent and technology issues, including infringement, validity, freedom to operate, risk management, patent acquisition, joint development, and patent due diligence in business transactions.

Mr. Park has experience in filing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and in counseling clients on patent prosecution strategy and portfolio management.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis in 1997, Mr. Park was a primary patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined patent applications in microprocessor-based control systems for nearly seven years.

Mr. Park received his J.D. from the George Washington University National Law Center in 1996. He received his M.E.E.E. and his B.S.E.E. in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia in 1991 and 1989, respectively. Mr. Park is fluent in Korean.

Mr. Park is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
