Conrad J. Aiken

Mr. Aiken, a partner in the Boise office and a member of the Banking and Finance Practice Group, is an experienced banking lawyer with particular expertise in commercial financing and litigation, including loan documentation, secured transactions, and real estate matters, and in enforcement of creditors’ rights in loan workouts, foreclosures, and bankruptcy. His clients include national, regional, and community banks, affordable housing lenders, and private lenders. He also enjoys a practice handling wills and probate matters.

Prior to joining the firm in 2001 Mr. Aiken was senior corporate counsel for U.S. Bancorp and its predecessor Idaho bank from 1981 to 2001. From 1970 to 1977 he was house counsel for Fortune 500 companies in Denver and Louisville where he handled legal issues affecting those companies, including products liability, franchising, trademarks, antitrust, commercial sales and warranty litigation, and corporate planning and drafting.

Mr. Aiken has been recognized by his peers for his banking law expertise in Best Lawyers in America and has regularly lectured on banking law topics on behalf of the American Institute of Banking. He has also lectured to college students and professionals on loan documentation and secured transactions, construction law, and antitrust law, and served on the Idaho Lawyers’ Committee to advise the Idaho legislature concerning adoption of the 2001 Revisions to Article 9 of the UCC.

Born and raised in Ohio, educated at Wittenberg University (B.A. 1966) and Duke University (J.D. 1969), Mr. Aiken first came to Idaho in 1969 to serve a one-year term as a judicial law clerk to Justice Allan Shepard of the Idaho Supreme Court. He and his wife of over forty years have two grown children and three grandchildren. Mr. Aiken is active in his community, having served as a member of the Idaho Management Committee for U.S. Bank, and for many years as a teacher and elder in a local Baptist Church. He enjoys golf, running, sports of all kinds, and being with his family.
