Connie Fore Dotzenrod

is a partner in the Atlanta office of King & Spalding and a member of the Healthcare Practice Group. Ms. Dotzenrod focuses her practice on healthcare regulatory compliance, healthcare transactions, and tax-exemption compliance.

Ms. Dotzenrod regularly advises healthcare clients in their day-to-day operations regarding the laws and regulations that govern their operations, including the federal anti-kickback statute, the Stark Law, the False Claims Act, HIPAA and laws governing tax-exempt organizations. She assists clients in designing, assessing and enhancing corporate compliance programs. She works with healthcare providers on their managed care strategy, contracting and dispute resolution. Her practice includes a broad range of other transactional matters, including healthcare regulatory due diligence in connection with prospective acquisitions; contract drafting and negotiation; formation and reorganization of healthcare systems, joint ventures and other transactions between and among healthcare providers; and formation and operation of continuing care retirement communities.

Ms. Dotzenrod also assists with formation and operation of tax-exempt public charities and private foundations. She advises tax-exempt clients regarding compliance with laws that govern their operations, and she has experience representing clients in controversies with the Internal Revenue Service.

Ms. Dotzenrod’s clients engage in a wide variety of activities and include, among others, manufacturers and suppliers of medical devices and pharmaceuticals, hospitals, physician groups, physician hospital organizations and other managed care organizations, nursing homes, hospices, residential facilities for the elderly, investors in healthcare businesses, and various types of tax-exempt entities.

Ms. Dotzenrod has been included in the Guide to the Leading US Healthcare Lawyers, which is compiled based on nominations from clients and peers. Ms. Dotzenrod is a member of the American Bar Association (Health Law Section, Taxation Section and Exempt Organizations Committee) and the American Health Lawyers Association (in which she previously served as Vice Chair of the In-House Counsel Committee and the Tax and Finance Committee). She is a former Senior Assistant General Counsel of Emory University (in which capacity she served as Counsel to the Emory Hospitals). She serves on the Boards of Directors of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Atlanta Affiliate and the Atlanta Chapter of Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation (ARCS).

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Virginia, Ms. Dotzenrod received her bachelor’s degree with highest distinction. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard University.
