Clay Howell

is a partner in King & Spalding’s Capital Transactions and Real Estate Practice Group. Mr. Howell’s practice focuses on (i) the representation of sponsors and equity investors in their investments in real estate assets, programmatic joint ventures and platforms and (ii) the representation of developers in complex, urban development transactions. Mr. Howell has also focused on representing borrowers in complex real estate finance transactions. Mr. Howell has represented these clients in the multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality and senior-living sectors throughout the United States.

Mr. Howell received his B.A. in psychology from Davidson College in 1993 and his J.D. from the University of Georgia in 1998. While in law school, Mr. Howell was an Articles Editor for the Georgia Law Review. Mr. Howell was noted for his real estate expertise in the 2008-2013 publications of Chambers USA, the 2013-2014 editions of The Best Lawyers in America and the 2007-2010 and 2013-2014 publications of Legal 500. Additionally, Mr. Howell was named a “Georgia Super Lawyer” in 2012-2014 and a “Georgia Rising Star” in 2006-2011.
