David A. Gold

David Gold has dedicated his practice to land use, redevelopment, renewable energy, and CEQA matters before government agencies and commissions throughout Northern California. Mr. Gold advises public and private institutions, including renewable energy and mixed-use applicants, cities, counties, and hospitals, to guide them through all phases of the land use regulatory process and to find solutions to complex infrastructure issues and political controversies.

Mr. Gold has served as special land use counsel to public clients on general plan, specific plan, and CEQA matters. He has drafted numerous land use initiatives which have been adopted by the voters.

Mr. Gold has been active in major California land use legislative initiatives. He was selected as land use counsel to the Bay Area Council's CEQA Task Force and has testified before the Legislature on CEQA reform legislation. Mr. Gold was the only attorney selected for the Contra Costa County Climate Change-CEQA Task Force.

He also has written and lectured in the areas of CEQA, development agreements, transit-oriented development, the Global Warming Solutions Act (AB32), climate change issues, sustainable development, and green building matters.

Mr. Gold currently serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Contra Costa Economic Partnership. He has been active in the Contra Costa County Bar Association, serving as the Chairman of its Real Estate Section. Mr. Gold has been recognized for his expertise in land use and zoning law by Legal 500 US and Best Lawyers in America. Since 2004, he has been named a Northern California Super Lawyer for Land Use/Zoning. In 2013, Mr. Gold received an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell for Energy, Environmental and Natural Resources. In 2011, the Daily Journal recognized Mr. Gold as one of the top 25 land-use attorneys in California.
