David Sergenian is a Partner and Co-Founder of Pierce Sergenian LLP. He brings years of experience representing a diverse array of individuals, organizations, and corporations, ranging from high-net-worth individuals and executives to film and television producers, actors, writers, music producers, to hedge funds, banks, brokerage companies, asset management firms, entrepreneurs, inventors, and manufacturers, to municipal and governmental agencies. He enjoys combining strategy, tenacity, and efficiency to best meet his clients’ litigation objectives.
Mr. Sergenian received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was one half of the winning team of the two-year, six-round William Minor Lile Moot Court Competition. He also served on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology.
Mr. Sergenian brings to Pierce Sergenian LLP a wealth of experience in diverse areas of commercial law, including securities litigation, antitrust, partnership disputes, real estate disputes, insurance matters, white collar crime, class actions, fraud claims, contract disputes, and unfair competition/false advertising. He also has extensive experience with appeals.
In addition, Mr. Sergenian has deep experience in all manner of intellectual property cases, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secrets, idea submission, and rights of publicity and privacy cases. He has successfully represented numerous clients in patent litigation, on both the plaintiff and defense side, including automobile manufacturers, inventors/entrepreneurs, and a major satellite television company in the largest multi-district patent litigation in history.
Mr. Sergenian began his career with the boutique law firm of Gradstein, Luskin & Van Dalsem, which specialized in high-stakes business contingency cases. There, he gained hands-on experience early on, second-chairing a trial in his second year of practice, in which he helped secure a victory for the plaintiff, after a jury deliberation of 90 minutes. He then joined litigation juggernaut Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, and subsequently the litigation powerhouse Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP, where he secured victories on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants through trials, arbitrations, and decisive summary judgment wins.
