David A. Surbeck

David is a member of the Financial Industry Group, where he concentrates his practice in the representation of lending institutions and borrowers in various banking and commercial finance transactions, correspondent banking, municipal finance, structured and securitized finance and restructuring and workouts.

He is relied on by Reed Smith clients for his deep and diverse knowledge of commercial lending structures and issues, with particular expertise in regard to syndicated and secured transactions and letter of credit matters. He also has substantial experience in municipal finance, and in structured and securitized finance. In his practice, David has been counsel to financial institutions in any variety of capacities, as lenders, letter of credit issuers, administrative and collateral agents, participants, trustees, underwriters and various pass-through issuers in transactions ranging from leveraged acquisition and project financing to multi-currency international acquisition and floor plan, equipment and working capital facilities.

David has also represented a variety of borrowers in financing transactions, including in stand-alone and syndicated facilities, in project finance facilities, leveraged acquisitions, employee stock option plan restructurings, structured financings and securitizations and in municipal bond issuances. His work with borrowers includes work in, inter alia, the health care, architectural, publishing and security services industries.
