David J. Lisko

David J. Lisko is an associate in Holland & Knight's Tampa office and a member of the firm's Litigation Section. Mr. Lisko focuses his practice on labor and employment law and sports law in state and federal courts. He represents employers in cases (including arbitrations) involving employment discrimination charges, breach of contract, wrongful termination, retaliation, negligent hiring/retention, sexual harassment allegations and the Fair Labor Standards Act, including class action suits. Mr. Lisko advises companies on internal labor and employment law policies, investigations and company policies. He also assists clients in the negotiation of employment agreements and termination agreements.

In his litigation practice, Mr. Lisko advises clients in cases involving breach of contract, the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, trusts and estates, foreclosure, fraud, misappropriation, tortious interference, bankruptcy, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act (RICO), and several U.S. Department of Justice investigations. His practice also includes sports and entertainment law, where he serves as an agent to multiple professional athletes and represents professional sports teams. Mr. Lisko is a registered sports agent with the National Football League (NFL) and is the president of the Florida Sports Law Association, Inc., a nonprofit charitable organization.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Lisko concentrated his practice in the areas of sports law and general litigation. His experience includes working for a white collar criminal defense law firm, clerking for a Florida circuit court judge, employment as a legal associate for a Fortune 500 company, serving as a law clerk to a professor and working directly under the general counsel of an NHL team.

While in law school, Mr. Lisko was a managing editor for the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution – the 2010 winner of the Lawrence Negotiation Competition – and a finalist in the American Bar Association Regional Negotiation Competition. He gained trial experience while in law school by acting as a licensed prosecutor in Delaware County, Ohio, and participating in moot court. He was the academic affairs committee chairman of the Student Bar Association and an active member of the Sports and Entertainment Law Association. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Lisko was an "Academic All Big Ten Team Selection," a three-time "Big Ten Conference Champion" as a wide receiver on The Ohio State University football team and a "Great Western League Champion" as a member of The Ohio State University lacrosse team.
