David L. Engel

Mr. David L. Engel is a Partner at Bingham Dana, LLP in the business area with a general corporate and securities practice and concentrations in representation of technology companies, both public and private, and in mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Engel currently serves on Bingham Dana’s Management Committee. Prior to joining Bingham Dana in 1984, Mr. Engel was a Partner in his own firm, an Associate at another major Boston firm, and an Assistant Professor at Stanford Law School where he taught business-related law. He also served as a Law Clerk to Judge Henry J. Friendly, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He served as a Military Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Navy. His professional affiliations and memberships include the American and Boston Bar Associations. He was a member of the Working Group of the Task Force of the Boston Bar Association on the revision of the Massachusetts corporations statute from 1987 to 2001. Mr. Engel was a former member of the Board of Visitors to Stanford Law School. He is a Member of the Advisory Board of Project Joy. Mr. Engel received the John Bingham Hurlbut Award (voted by students in graduating class to one professor for excellence in teaching) at the Stanford Law School. He is a Distinguished Naval Graduate and Graduate with Distinction, U.S. Naval Officer Candidate School. Mr. Engel holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from the Harvard Law School in 1973. He is the President of Harvard Law Review and the Recipient of Sears Prize. He received an A.B. in economics (cum laude) from Harvard College in 1967 and is the recipient of Detur Prize, John Harvard Scholarship, Harvard College Scholarship, and National Merit Scholarship.
