David Sawyer represents employers in all facets related to employee benefit plans.
He assists plan administrators with defined contribution and defined benefit qualified retirement plans, supplemental deferred compensation plans, health and welfare plans, equity-based compensation plans, executive compensation issues and other benefit related matters arising out of employment and corporate restructuring transactions.
David has specific and significant experience working with Taft-Hartley plans, including involvement with the development of funding improvement and rehabilitation plans, negotiating investment contracts - including side letters with hedge funds, private equity funds, and REITs, and advising trustees on their fiduciary obligations. He also has experience advising clients on ERISA fiduciary responsibilities, assisting clients during governmental audits and examinations, including participation in various voluntary compliance programs, and regularly assisting in coverage-related analyses under fiduciary liability insurance policies.
