David P. Markman

David P. Markman focuses his practice on representing entertainment companies in all aspects of their business activities. David counsels both traditional production companies and new media clients regarding entertainment transactional issues from project acquisition and financing to distribution and sales, and serves as production counsel, negotiating on behalf of production entities with above and below-the-line talent, bond companies and banks for both film and television projects. In addition, David negotiates contracts for and counsels a variety of performers, writers, producers and directors in both television and film and further represents talent with their commercial, endorsement and licensing contracts. David also negotiates pay-per-view agreements for sports and entertainment event promoters.

David's practice also focuses on the area of "branded media." Utilizing the platform provided by the diverse international practice at GT, David has been counseling the firm's corporate clients with regard to the integration of their brands into television programming, feature motion pictures and music projects as a means of efficiently expending and maximizing their returns from their advertising and promotional dollars. David has helped to forge collaborations between brands and studios or production companies from the nascent stages of a project, to develop branded entertainment content that simultaneously allows creative expression and targeted brand promotion.
