David T. Yang

Mr. Yang is a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group, resident in the Los Angeles office of Morrison & Foerster LLP. His practice focuses on patents and includes litigation, reexamination, prosecution, licensing, as well as transactional matters involving due diligence of patent assets. He also has experience working abroad at various locations throughout Asia, and currently manages patent litigation matters in China for U.S. clients.

Mr. Yang is experienced with various kinds of technology, including semiconductor processing, flat-panel display (TFT-LCD), wireless communications, GPS navigational systems, cellular-based location-based applications, video and audio processing including post-production digital editing, optical disc-recording and writing, software encryption, electronic musical instruments, digital televisions, medical devices, and consumer electronics generally.

Mr. Yang received his B.S.E.E. from Arizona State University in 1994, with honors, and received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School in 1998. Mr. Yang was a judicial extern to the Honorable Gladys Kessler of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and later to the Honorable Pauline Newman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Aside from his patent practice, Mr. Yang has lectured at local high schools on the prevention of domestic violence and abusive relationships. He has received recognition from the Public Counsel Law Center for his contribution of free legal services to foster children, and is a repeat recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Award from the State Bar of California in recognition of his voluntary legal services to the local community.

Mr. Yang is admitted to practice in the state of California, before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Yang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
