Dean Burau is a tax partner in the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn who concentrates his practice on transactional matters.

Mr. Burau advises clients on a wide variety of corporate and private equity transactional issues, including business formations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, spin-offs, financings, debt offerings and equity offerings. Mr. Burau also advises clients in leveraged lease transactions, synthetic lease transactions, partnership flip transactions and project finance. Mr. Burau is actively involved in financing renewable and alternative energy resources, including solar and wind.

Prior to joining Winston & Strawn, Mr. Burau was a tax consultant at Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Mr. Burau received a B.A. in international business administration, summa cum laude, from Augustana College in 1994. He received a M.B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1998 and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1998.
