Dhananjay Manthripragada is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and was formerly with the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, resulting in a practice that is truly national in scope. He has experience defending companies in complex litigation in courts throughout the country. He is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department, and has represented clients in a wide range of matters, including in the areas of Class Actions, Environmental Litigation, Antitrust Law Counseling and Litigation, and Government Contracts.
Mr. Manthripragada has served as counsel in numerous class action and derivative lawsuits. Most recently he has served as counsel for Hewlett-Packard Co. in a putative nationwide consumer class action in the Northern District of California. When the matter moved to settlement mode after several years of contentious litigation, Mr. Manthripragada oversaw the complex issues which surround the settlement of a class action. He currently continues to represent the company at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in an appeal by objectors to the settlement. Mr. Manthripragada has also represented International Paper in a putative toxic tort class action pending in the District of South Carolina, in which he handled a massive document discovery effort while coordinating with the client and plaintiffs' counsel.
Mr. Manthripragada’s environmental practice includes mass and toxic tort defense, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act litigation. His antitrust practice includes representing clients before the Department of Justice in connection with government investigations, and defending companies in matters alleging a range of antitrust-based claims. He also has represented government contractors before the Board of Contract Appeals, and has provided advice to clients on issues involving contract negotiations, claims analysis, and contract performance.
Mr. Manthripragada received a law degree in 2007 from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he served as Chief Comments Editor and Articles Editor of the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law & Policy. While in law school, Mr. Manthripragada served as a judicial extern to Judge Kim McLane Wardlaw of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Duke University in 2004.
