Douglas E. Ringel

Doug Ringel has over twenty years of experience working with clients on their patent matters. He represents clients in patent litigation in federal district courts as well as in ex parte and inter partes proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also works with clients in obtaining patents and provides counseling and opinions on patent issues, including patent landscape reviews, patent clearance during product design and development, freedom to operate opinions, and deal diligence relating to intellectual property investments, licensing, purchases, mergers, and acquisitions.



Doug has served as lead counsel in a number of significant and high-profile intellectual property cases and has secured important courtroom victories for clients. He has handled all aspects of litigation from pre-trial investigation and initial filings through to judgment or other disposition, including trials, appeals, and settlements. His courtroom experience includes jury and bench trials, preliminary injunction proceedings, and numerous hearings, including many Markman and summary judgment hearings. He also has represented clients in mediation proceedings and settlement conferences.



Doug has significant experience practicing before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including handling briefing and oral argument before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board in inter partes proceedings. He has prosecuted or supervised the prosecution of hundreds of granted patents. He helps clients build strategic patent portfolios, working closely with them to craft patents that will protect their inventions and the markets for them.



Doug has worked with large, international corporations as well as start-up companies. He has represented companies across a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, computers
