E. Gerald Riesenbach joined the firm in 1995 and is resident in the Philadelphia office. He is a member of the firm and is a former chair of the firm’s Health Law Practice Group and of its Business Law Department.
Jerry has a comprehensive background resulting from many years of experience in the general representation of businesses, both public and privately owned, in and outside the health care industry, including mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings of debt and equity securities. In recent years, he has also represented many senior executives of public and private companies in the negotiation of their employment arrangements.
Jerry’s health care experience includes representation of nonprofit and for-profit hospitals and other health care providers, health care consulting and management companies, HMOs, health care lenders and investment bankers, home health agencies and other individuals and businesses associated with the health care industry. He has broad experience in tax exempt financing of health care and life care institutions and in mergers and acquisitions of nonprofit hospitals.
Jerry serves as chairman of the Philadelphia Theater Company, having served for four years as the company's president. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Freedom’s Foundation Valley Forge, is a fellow of the College of Physicians, and is a member of the Arts Advisory Council of the Avenue of the Arts, Inc. He formerly served as vice president of the University of Pennsylvania's alumni organization, Penn Alumni, and as president of the Alumni Class Leadership Council of the University. He also formerly served as a vice chairman of the board of trustees of Albert Einstein Medical Center, as a member of the board of the Albert Einstein Health Care Foundation and as chairman of the Willowcrest-Bamberger Division of Albert Einstein Medical Center. Jerry was a member of the board of directors of Diagnostek, Inc., and the Hospital Trustee Association of Pennsylvania, the board of trustees of the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine Foundation and the Delaware Valley Dystonia Medical Research Foundation and the board of Martins Run Life Care Retirement Community. He also served on the board of directors of the Arts and Business Council of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the National Conference of Christians and Jews Greater Philadelphia Region, as the alumni president for his University of Pennsylvania class and as president of the Philadelphia Jaycees.
Jerry received his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from the Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
