Mr. Uehlein serves as counsel in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. He was a partner of the firm from 1973 to 2001.
Mr. Uehlein advises employers on labor and employment law issues and represents these employers before state and federal administrative agencies and courts. He has developed a particular expertise in advising public- and private-sector owners and major construction companies on labor law and labor relations matters and the negotiation and implementation of collective bargaining agreements involving major construction projects throughout the United States. He has successfully defended these against challenges under labor and procurement laws in both federal and state courts, including the United States Supreme Court.
In addition to traditional law and labor relations matters involving the National Labor Relations Act, Mr. Uehlein counsels employers about their obligations under a variety of specific labor statutes, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Davis Bacon Act, and others at the federal and state level.
After law school, Mr. Uehlein served as a field attorney for the National Labor Relations Board from 1965 to 1968, before joining the firm. From 1970 through 1973, he served as executive assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Labor.
Mr. Uehlein is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
