Elaine S. Fox

Ms. Fox is of counsel at the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. In over 35 years of practice, Ms. Fox has represented management in labor/management negotiations, in disputes involving employment and industrial relations before the NLRB, EEOC other administrative agencies and the courts nationwide. She has cost-effectively litigated and resolved cases by obtaining summary judgment or favorable settlements on behalf of her clients ranging from manufacturing, health care, professional and financial services industries. She has also successfully defended companies, not-for-profit organizations, and a foreign government against discrimination and other employment claims and obtained favorable results through mediation and arbitration. Ms. Fox offers significant experience in traditional labor negotiations on behalf of employers.

Ms. Fox routinely counsels employers regarding the implications of new and existing employment laws and union issues. She has crafted and helped implement a variety of employee handbooks; confidentiality, non-solicitation, restrictive covenant, and independent contractor agreements; employee classification, personnel reorganization, and other proactive employment policies to help companies avoid potential disputes.

She is past management co-editor-in-chief, BNA's How to Take a Case Before the NLRB 2005, 2003 and 2002 Supplement to the Seventh Edition, and served in the same capacity for the Seventh Edition 2000 (main volume). She is also past management chair of the ABA Practice & Procedure Committee Under the NLRA.
