Elizabeth M. Schubert

LIZ SCHUBERT is a partner in Sidley's Investment Funds, Advisers and Derivatives practice group and is also a member of Sidley's End User Derivatives team. Liz represents buy side market participants (primarily advisers to investment funds) in the negotiation of trading and derivatives agreements. Her client base is global in scope and includes asset managers with a wide range of strategies. Liz has advised a significant percentage of the world’s largest hedge fund managers on their derivatives negotiations. Representing clients large and small, she is able to provide perspective on terms obtained for top flight clients as well as strategies for clients that want to obtain efficient and commercial results in their negotiations. In all cases, Liz works closely with clients to develop a set of consistent and customized priorities for each type of trading relationship. She also helps clients develop strategies for managing liquidity and margin obligations through the use of tools like margin lockups. In addition, she advises clients on devising and implementing strategies to mitigate counterparty credit risk. She is part of the Sidley team that acts as outside counsel on derivatives matters for the Managed Funds Association. Her experience includes over the counter derivatives contracts, ISDA Master Agreements central clearing documentation, futures customer agreements, trade specific confirmations, master confirmations, triparty custody arrangements, stock lending, prime brokerage and repurchase agreements.
