Beth Tanis

is a partner in King & Spalding’s Business Litigation Practice Group and is the co-leader of the firm’s Professional Liability litigation initiative. Ms. Tanis has extensive trial and arbitration experience, and focuses her practice on general litigation matters, with an emphasis on class actions; securities litigation; litigation involving public accounting firms, in which she has represented all of the Big Four accounting firms; and litigation involving law firms and other professional services providers.

Ms. Tanis is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers; the Chair of the Business Litigation Committee of the Business Section of the State Bar of Georgia; the Chair of the Board of Directors of Georgia Appleseed; a member of the Board of Visitors of the Georgia State University College of Law; a member and past Chair of the Board of Directors of Families First, Inc.; and a Trustee of The Howard School. At the request of the Georgia Supreme Court, she serves as a Special Master in attorney disciplinary proceedings.

Since 2003, Ms. Tanis has been ranked as one of The Best Lawyers in America and in 2012 was named “Lawyer of the Year” for “Bet-the-Company” litigation. Since 2007, she has been recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers and since 2006, Atlanta magazine has named her as one of Georgia’s Top 100 Lawyers and as one of Georgia’s Top 50 Female Lawyers. Before joining King & Spalding, Ms. Tanis was with the Sutherland law firm following four years of practice in Chicago. She graduated first in her class, earning a J.D., with highest honors, from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
