Emily B. Brown

Emily Brown is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the New York office of King & Spalding, focusing her practice on both domestic and international trademark prosecution matters, trademark and copyright licensing, trademark and trade dress infringement litigation, and false advertising and unfair competition litigation.

Ms. Brown’s practice involves counseling clients with regard to trademark matters, including the domestic and international search and clearance of new marks, prosecuting applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and managing international trademark campaigns. She also routinely handles enforcement of rights in existing trademarks and maintenance of trademark registrations. Ms. Brown has assisted in representing clients in numerous trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She works on many trademark projects for a major soft-drink manufacturer, focusing on the availability of the company’s trademarks on a global basis. Ms. Brown’s experience also includes representing a world-renowned fashion designer and his licensee in a trade dress infringement action in federal court against an international fashion and beauty conglomerate, representing a major pharmaceutical company in a false advertising proceeding before the National Advertising Division, and involvement in intellectual property litigation before federal courts involving claims of trademark infringement, trademark dilution, unfair competition, and false advertising. Ms. Brown is also involved in a number of intellectual property related corporate transactions.

Ms. Brown graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2003, where she was a member of the Notre Dame Barristers Mock Trial team. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2000, magna cum laude . She is admitted to practice in Georgia and in New Jersey, as well as in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Brown is a member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the State Bar of Georgia (intellectual property, litigation, and entertainment section). Ms. Brown is a member of the INTA Young Practitioner’s Committee.

In addition, Ms. Brown is active in public interest matters. She represents clients in pro bono matters involving trademark and copyright matters. She is also the coach of a high school mock trial team in New Jersey.
