Erica L. Reilley

Erica Reilley is a skilled litigator whose practice focuses on legal strategy, analysis, and advocacy in trial and appellate courts throughout the U.S. She has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the California Court of Appeal, and federal and state trial courts.

Erica has authored winning briefs in a variety of areas. She currently is a key brief writer in a collection of coordinated cases defending Expedia against claims by various California cities for payment of allegedly owed transient occupancy tax, and Expedia has secured a series of notable victories. Erica also has authored or supervised several successful dispositive motions on behalf of the California Judicial Council, Administrative Office of the Courts, relating to First Amendment challenges brought against various state courthouses. She also was the primary writer of dispositive briefs that successfully defended the County of Los Angeles against constitutional challenges to the November 2008 election.

Erica is committed to public service and has worked on a number of pro bono matters — most recently, an amicus brief for the Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project (DV LEAP). She is an active member of the ABA Council of Appellate Lawyers, the LACBA Appellate Courts Section, and the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.

Erica currently serves as the supervising attorney for the Ninth Circuit Appellate Advocacy Clinic at Loyola Law School. She also has served as an adjunct professor of legal writing and appellate advocacy at USC and Loyola Law School, respectively. Erica is a licensed California real estate broker.
