Fernando M. Pinguelo

Fernando M. Pinguelo, a partner of Scarinci Hollenbeck and Chair of its Cyber Security & Data Protection and Crisis Management practice fernando-pinguelogroups, is a trial lawyer who devotes his practice to complex business disputes with an emphasis on cyber security, data privacy, media, and employment matters in the federal and state courts. Fernando serves as Chair of the Privacy Law Special Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is the author of numerous publications, including eDiscovery for Corporate Counsel (Chapter 17, West Publishing) and N.J. Federal Civil Procedure (Chapter 13, N.J. Law Journal Publishing), and lectures internationally on law and technology issues, including
for the Judicial College and Escola Paulista da Magistratura, São Paulo. He created the ABA Journal award-winning blog eLessons Learned (www.eLLblog.com) and eWhiteHouseWatch (www.eWHWblog.com). He is a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on the Rules of Evidence. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law where he teaches a course on eDiscovery. He received a Fulbright Specialist appointment for his work in eDiscovery from which he serves as a visiting faculty member at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, São Paulo. He clerked for The Honorable Edwin H. Stern, Appellate Division.

Fernando has received Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating since 2011, its highest lawyer rating, and has been recognized by
business publications that identify professionals who have made an outstanding impact in helping clients succeed, including The New York Enterprise Report who awarded him its Technology Lawyer of the Year award, which recognizes the New York tri-state area’s top business advisors; and Law Technology News who recognized him in its October 2012 magazine issue as one of only a handful of U.S.-based lawyers with notable experience in handling cyber security and data privacy matters. Fernando received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston College and his J.D. from Boston College Law School.
