Fred I. Feinstein

Fred I. Feinstein is senior counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Chicago office. He is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. He is admitted to the Illinois Bar and to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Fred’s practice includes general transactional and litigation practice, with particular emphasis in real estate development, annexation, zoning and environmental matters. His practice also includes governmental relations; public – private partnerships, purchases, sales, exchanges, and leases of industrial, commercial, retail and farm properties; construction; financing of real estate acquisitions and developments on behalf of both borrowers and lenders; loan workouts; HUD financing; consumer credit; loan pools, REITS and portfolio lending matters; mortgage foreclosures and mechanics' lien matters; loan participation agreements; right of way easements; condemnation litigation; bankruptcy and chancery litigation; real estate taxation matters; condominiums; legal aspects of real estate financing, syndicating and joint venturing for real estate development and multiparcel acquisition; health care, retirement housing, and related development.

Fred is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers; Beta Gamma Sigma (National Honorary Commerce Fraternity); Beta Alpha Psi (National Honorary Accounting Fraternity); Pi Gamma Mu (National Social Science Honor Society); Blue Key (National Honor Scholastic and Service Fraternity); Lex Legio (Honorary Legal Fraternity); and the Lambda Alpha (Land Economics Fraternity).

Fred is a member of board of managers of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, DGRS Memorial Club for Cancer Research, former member of board of directors of Temple Judea Mizpah, and an active participant in community and religious organizations.

He has been a lecturer for various professional associations throughout the country, including Practicing Law Institute, American Bar Association, the National and Illinois Association of Realtors, Appraisal Institute and the National Council for Public Private Partnerships. He is also a member of the permanent faculty of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
