Fred is a member of the Global Financial Industry Group and the Practice Leader for the Investment Management Team. In his role, Fred joins with other Practice Leaders in the Global Financial Industry Group in carrying out core management responsibilities, including recruitment, promotion, strategic planning, budgeting, and compensation.

Fred carries on an active client service practice, which centers largely around counseling investment adviser firms on regulatory matters and strategic initiatives. A representative list of financial services merger and acquisition matters which Fred has recently handled is contained herein.

Over his 34 year legal career with Reed Smith, Fred has also nurtured numerous relationships with private operating company clients, principally in the manufacturing and media industries. In this role, Fred has recently assisted a client in the formation of a joint venture in China (working in conjunction with Reed Smith’s Shanghai office), and he has recently assisted two other clients with acquisitions of regional newspaper chains. Fred serves as outside general counsel for these clients, and, in addition to managing legal projects, Fred oversees the delivery of a wide range of services from other Reed Smith lawyers to these clients in areas such as intellectual property, employment, tax, litigation, environmental, financing and benefits.
